MOTORWORLD München: New place for mobility

Munich, June 8, 2021. #motorworld München has opened its doors. After twelve years of project development and construction, a new dimension for an #automotive experience world has been created in the Freimann district of #Munich, an impressive meeting place for lovers and friends of driving culture and lifestyle – over 25 of the world's most valuable and exclusive vehicle brands, a comprehensive range of #automotive service providers and specialised workshops, numerous shops, various event locations and 22 conference rooms, the four-star AMERON München #motorworld, a broad variety of eateries, and much more besides. Admission is free 365 days a year.

"The vibrant and dynamic metropolis of #Munich, an over 100-year-old historical industrial architecture, and a great deal of mobile passion are the ingredients for the new #motorworld," says Andreas Dünkel, CEO of the #motorworld Group. "Our employees and partners, all those involved in the construction and the entire #motorworld family have done a fantastic job in the past years. Together, we have tinkered, planned, developed, built, marketed, leased, put horsepower on the road, and spent many, many hours working for the success of #motorworld München. Always in focus: The moment we open. Now it's arrived. #motorworld München is up and running. Unfortunately, the pandemic has put paid to our original plans, and a grand opening event has not yet been possible. Although the doors of #motorworld München are open, the celebrations will be taking place at a later date. We are looking forward to welcoming, within the scope of our possibilities, petrol heads, car guys, bikers, classic car friends, culture lovers, lifestyle fans and everyone who is interested from #Munich, #Germany, and the world."

Motorworld München is located on the site of the former Deutsche Bahn railway repair shop in Munich-Freimann. Its centrepiece is the impressive listed Lokhalle where locomotives used to be repaired, and which is now picking up steam again after standing derelict for 25 years. With its gigantic dimensions – 185 metres long, 90 metres wide and up to 18 metres high – it is one of Europe's largest self-supporting steel structure halls. The hall and the other buildings belonging to the ensemble have been extensively renovated in recent years and supplemented with carefully integrated modern building elements. In total, the site covers 75,000 square metres of space and ground.

This experience world in #Munich represents the company's biggest project to date, which is also reflected in the construction figures. The locomotive hall alone has a roof area of 20,000 square metres; for its basement over 300,000 tons of earth (= 8,000 lorry loads) had to be moved; more than 1,000 doors and 6,000 windows were installed; over 31,500 cubic metres of concrete were poured.

Strong brands on board

Automotive fans will in future find everything their hearts desire at #motorworld München: exclusive dealerships for luxury cars, sports cars, classic cars, bikes and e-mobility, vehicle conditioning and refinement, care and maintenance services, as well as versatile lifestyle and merchandise shops.

Strong brands such as the BMW Group, the Dörr Group with McLaren and Bugatti, Schmidt Premium Cars with Rolls Royce, the MOHR GROUP with ABT Sportsline, BRABUS, RUF Porsche, KEYVANY, Recaro, Hispano-Suiza Spain with the Carmen model and other premium brands, Autohaus Blöchl with Ferrari, Renault with Alpine, die Exklusive Kollektion with Lotus, Morgan and Donkervoort, as well as Arthur Bechtel Classic Motors, have secured their places in #Munich. Many niche providers and brands such as PAL-V, Microlino and Singer Porsche are also present here.

A highlight in the historical locomotive hall are the 120 glass boxes arranged on four levels. Classic car and sports car owners can store their #automotive treasures here under the best conditions, visible to all and accessible to themselves at all times.

Munich's restaurant scene also gets a real enhancement. Seven gastronomic establishments of various kinds, among them delicatessen shops, cafes and the High Line relish workshop, pamper their guests.

MOTORWORLD Inn

The theme restaurant #motorworld Inn sets a truly special tone. It is furnished in the style of nostalgic workshops, and much attention has been paid to detail and to creating a classic car atmosphere. There are seating groups under the platform lift, while a perfectly preserved 1957 Buick convertible hangs upside-down from the ceiling. Meetings and private dining events are possible in separate rooms in a fascinating old forge or in the vintage pitstop area. Fans of the Golden Twenties can take a journey back in time in the Private Cinema. The magical world of the good old days runs like a red thread through the entire concept – right down to the sanitary facilities. The culinary focus is on selected food classics from the automobile nations of Italy, the USA and "good old Germany".

Four-star hotel Ameron München Motorworld

Motorworld is being joined in the Bavarian capital by the Althoff Group with its four-star Hotel Ameron. It combines the fascination for driving culture with the utmost hotel comfort. The two-storey building with its shiny mirrored facade designed by an artist is integrated into the locomotive hall, where it is a veritable eyecatcher. The 156 design rooms, including six premium suites, captivate with their unique flair and present themselves as a tribute to the world of motor sport. Three car & bike studios even allow guests to park their cars or motorcycles directly in their rooms and always have them in view through the large glass pane. Additionally, in the four-star hotel is an Italian restaurant with the new AMERON concept "Bacio della Mamma", which serves traditional Roman dishes, together with a vitality spa offering a view of the historic locomotive hall.

Events and conferences: Dampfdom and racing legends

For many years, the internationally renowned Zenith, Kesselhaus and Kohlebunker event halls, which are part of the industrial-historical ensemble of #motorworld München, have enjoyed great popularity in the event, exhibition and trade fair scene. With the Lokhalle and Gebäude 79 in front of it, which also accommodates the Drivers & Business Club #Munich, there are now an additional 22 conference rooms as well as the new "Dampfdom" event and concert hall, which is standing ready for professional acts and unforgettable events with its organic architectural language, graceful balconies, a state-of-the-art backstage area, and a capacity for up to 2,400 people. Quite exceptional are also the three theme conference rooms dedicated by #motorworld to the internationally renowned racing legends Hans-Joachim "Strietzel" Stuck, Leopold "Poldi" Prince of Bavaria, and Walter Röhrl with Christian Geistdörfer, and which were fitted out in close cooperation with them.

Motorworld München: CO2-neutral

Sustainability is a major issue for the #motorworld Group. A core element of this idea is the preservation of listed, historically significant buildings, such as the ensemble in #Munich. The #motorworld Group also uses renewable energy sources to meet the increasing requirements for environmental protection and efficiency. In operation at #motorworld München are photovoltaic systems with a peak output of 1100 kilowatts (kWp) together with combined heat and power plants producing 360 kilowatts of electrical power. In total, these will generate around 2.6 million kWh of renewable electricity per year, which corresponds to an annual saving of about 700 tons of CO2. This means that even with full event operations in the post-Covid era, #motorworld München can justifiably claim to be climate-neutral.

Ideal transport links and over 1300 parking spaces

Perfect location and very accessible: The #Munich experience world has ideal transport links. It is situated directly on the A9 motorway just a few minutes' drive from the Allianz Arena, and within walking distance of the U6 underground line ("Freimann" station). There are 620 car parking spaces on the grounds as well as in a specially built underground car park (free parking for up to 30 minutes). An additional multi-storey car park with more than 750 parking spaces is under construction. There are also sufficient bicycle parking spaces for cyclists.

The best thing about it: free admission

Motorworld München is now the ninth location of the multi-award-winning #motorworld Group, the world's largest brand-neutral sports car and classic car centre. Every visitor can experience hundreds of sensational vehicles free of charge, at present by wearing a mask and in compliance with the hygiene and distancing rules.
