Alfa Romeo Enthusiasm Lights Up Vernasca Silver Flag 2018

The 23rd edition of the #vernascasilverflag, the re-enactment of the Castell'Arquato-Vernasca hillclimb that was held from 1953 to 1972, has just ended. This year's edition was dedicated to the world of French races with 220 true beauties forming a unique travelling museum showcasing some the best in motorsports history. On the starting grid was the valuable 1900 Sport Spider made in 1954 from the #alfaromeo Museum in Arese, an extremely rare racing spider of which only two were made. This gem is part of the collection of #fcaheritage, the organisation responsible for fostering and promoting the history of the company.
Although the Silver Flag is not a real race, its dynamic nature recreates genuine race day atmosphere. This is the magic of the event that excites both audience and crews. One of the awarded motorsport celebrities was Arturo Merzario in the 1900 Sport Spider and Bernard Darniche in a Lancia Stratos. An #alfaromeo 2000 Sportiva got Best of Show for cars made after the war. This is one of the only two made and belongs to Axel Marx. The Swiss collector famously acquired the car after having courted for it for nearly thirty years.
